Are you prepared for 2008 and beyond? New passport requirements extended...again.The new passport requirements have been adjusted, once again. Since, January 23, 2007 all US and Canadian Citizens traveling by airline and leaving/entering the United States to/from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America are required to have a passport. However, what if you cruise or drive outside the United States in 2008 or beyond? As of now, you may still continue to use proof of citizenship and government issued ID, "until further notice". At an undetermined date, the US Department of State will be requiring all US and Canadian Citizens to show either a passport or the new passport card (details at: Passport card info) to exit and return to any US border via land and sea. If you find yourself unprepared, you can go to the US Dept. of State's website for further passport details at: Passport requirement info and get passport application information at: Passport application. The cost: Age 16 and older: The passport fee is $55. The security surcharge is $12. The execution fee is $30. The total is $97. Passport card is $45. Under Age 16: The passport fee is $40.
